CASA Youth Advocates was proud to host a press conference on Thursday, September 26th in our Media, PA Office.

Pennsylvania ACT 23 represents a major milestone in child welfare reform, and CASA is proud to play a leadership role in advocating for the rights and well-being of children in foster care across the state.

The video above includes remarks from CASA’s own Shakira Hansley Ellerson, Director of the Voices for Children Policy & Advocacy Coalition. Shakira was a featured speaker at the press conference, bringing her expertise and leadership on child welfare advocacy to the forefront of the discussion.

Senator Tim Kearney opened the press conference sharing the journey of signing ACT 23 into law, and offering evidence of why supporting and protecting children involved in court proceedings is so important.

We were also joined by Jack Stollsteimer, Delaware County District Attorney; Sarah Gibbons, Executive Director, Family Support Line; Frank Cervone, Former Executive Director, Support Center for Child Advocates; and Cathleen Palm, Center for Children’s Justice.

We want to thank our speakers, and all of you for your ongoing support of CASA and our mission to ensure that every child in foster care has a strong, committed advocate.
