Who We Are

Voices for Children brings together committed local leaders in human services, government, business, faith, philanthropy, education, and advocacy to ensure that all Delaware County children have opportunities that can lead to hopeful and healthy lives.

We accomplish this in two ways:

1. By building a seamless, better coordinated system of supporting children.
2. By advocating for the policies, resources, programs, and services necessary to achieve that goal.

Strengthening the Systems That Serve Children and Families

The coalition builds collaboration among the many agencies and organizations serving children and families in Delaware County to fundamentally transform how services are delivered.

Our Impact

At Voices for Children Coalition, we are dedicated to improving the lives of children in Delaware County through collaborative efforts, robust advocacy, and comprehensive data resources. Since our inception in 2019, we have made significant strides in transforming how local systems serve children and families. Our commitment to fostering prevention-focused, child-centered approaches has driven us to achieve measurable results in various areas.

Collaborative Efforts
  • Community Engagement: In 2019, over 160 community members committed to enhancing child wellbeing by rethinking and improving local systems. Through surveys and interviews with over 40 stakeholders, we identified key areas for improvement and began working towards our collective vision.
  • Steering Committee Formation: By early 2020, we established a Steering Committee to guide our mission, vision, values, and priorities, ensuring our efforts remain focused and impactful.
Advocacy and Policy Influence
  • Policy Advocacy: Since 2021, our coalition has actively engaged in advocacy with County Council, presenting at press conferences, and developing strategies to implement new policies. These actions have helped to share resources and inform legislators about the needs of our community.
  • Legislative Education: We host training sessions to educate community members on how laws are made, the role of local government, and effective advocacy techniques. These sessions have empowered attendees to use data- driven talking points and personal narratives in discussions with legislators.
Data-Driven Insights
  • Child Wellbeing Database: Our comprehensive database, launched in October 2023, serves as a vital tool for making grant petitions, advocating for policy changes, and identifying unmet needs within our community. This resource has been instrumental in driving informed decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Legislation Tracker: Our legislation tracker keeps our community updated on proposed legislation affecting child wellbeing in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties. This tool ensures that our advocacy efforts are timely and targeted.
Community Impact

Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, we have continued to make great strides in improving the systems that serve children and families in Delaware County. Our coalition remains a beacon of hope and a catalyst for change, demonstrating that collective action and informed advocacy can lead to a brighter future for our children.
