Who We Are

Voices for Children brings together committed local leaders in human services, government, business, faith, philanthropy, education, and advocacy to ensure that all Delaware County children have opportunities that can lead to hopeful and healthy lives.

We accomplish this in two ways:

1. By building a seamless, better coordinated system of supporting children.
2. By advocating for the policies, resources, programs, and services necessary to achieve that goal.

Strengthening the Systems That Serve Children and Families

The coalition builds collaboration among the many agencies and organizations serving children and families in Delaware County to fundamentally transform how services are delivered.

Our Impact

In 2019, 160 people committed to the well-being of Delaware County’s children answered the call to begin rethinking how local systems serving children and families work, including a stronger focus on prevention.

This gave birth to Voices for Children, a coalition guided by the vision that all children in Delaware County will benefit from robust resources, responsive services, seamless interagency coordination, and compelling advocacy.

Through lively and candid discussion, a community survey, and interviews with over 40 stakeholders, this group examined the state of Delaware County’s child-serving systems, local trends and opportunities, what is working and what needs more work, and who must be involved in achieving the goal of improving children’s lives.

Despite the increased complications and demands brought on by the pandemic, the coalition made great strides.

By early 2020, a Steering Committee was formed to review and provide guidance on the mission, vision, values, and priority areas for the coalition.

Coalition members formed Action Teams to lead the work on the coalition’s four priority areas:

  • Family and Youth Engagement: Engaging family and youth to guide the coalition
  • Social Determinants: Strategies for addressing root causes
  • Systems Linkage: Resource mapping and coordination
  • Best Practices: Services and sustainability
